SYRACUSE — Syracuse sophomore guard Michael Carter-Williams is one of 50 student-athletes named to The Naismith Men’s College Player of the Year Award watch list.

The list was compiled by the Atlanta Tipoff Club’s Board of Selectors. The Naismith Men’s College Player of the Year Award will be announced on April 7, 2013, during the Final Four in Atlanta.

In late February the list will be paired to a top 30 and in March it will be reduced to four finalists.

Other Big East players on the list were Louisville’s Chane Behanan and Gorgui Dieng, Cincinnati’s Sean Kilpatrick, Georgetown’s Otto Porter and Notre Dame’s Jack Cooley.

Previous winners of the award include Kevin Durant, Michael Jordan, Ralph Sampson, Bill Walton and Kentucky’s Anthony Davis, last year’s recipient.
