Katie Jean Hampton and Justin Matthew Salter, both of Gouverneur, were married at 4 p.m. Sept. 1 in Asbury United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jane Wagner, Harrisville, officiating.

The bride is the daughter of David and Betty Hampton, Cocoa, Fla., and Gouverneur. The groom is the son and stepson of Mario and Terry Pistolesi, Gouverneur, and Robert and Lisa Salter, Shreveport, La.

The bride was given in marriage by her father. Amy Oberacker, Cicero, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Allison Hampton, Alexandria, Va., sister-in-law of the bride, Nicole Morenz, aunt of the bride, and Lindsay Newvine, both of Gouverneur, and Jannah Salter, Shreveport, sister of the groom. Junior bridesmaid was Raigan Morenz, Gouverneur, niece of the bride. Flower girls were Reese Morenz, niece of the bride, and Alaynna Salter, daughter of the groom, both of Gouverneur.

Dickie Sawyer, Gouverneur, was best man. Groomsmen were D.J. Hampton, Alexandria, brother of the bride, Rusty Morenz, uncle of the bride, and David Perrigo, both of Gouverneur, and Cameron Lynde, Bellefonte, Pa. Ring bearers were Jackson Salter, Shreveport, brother of the groom, and Colton Salter, Gouverneur, son of the bride and groom.

The bride wore a strapless dress with a beaded empire waist made of taffeta, net and embroidered lace with metallic accents, rhinestones, pearls, crystal beading and a cathedral train. She carried a bouquet of three dozen roses, accented with crystals.

A reception was held at Savory Downtown, Best Western Carriage House Inn. The couple will honeymoon in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, at a later date.

Mrs. Salter graduated with honors in 1999 from Gouverneur Central School. She received bachelor’s degrees in elementary education and history in 2003 and a master’s degree in literacy in 2004, all from SUNY Potsdam. Mrs. Salter is a kindergarten teacher for Indian River Central School, Philadelphia.

Mr. Salter graduated in 2006 from Gouverneur Central School. He is employed by ConTech Building Systems, Gouverneur.

The couple resides in Gouverneur.
