Massena’s Dominique Valancius commits to play college soccer at Castleton State

MASSENA - Senior soccer standout Dominique Valancius of Massena Central will look to take her game to the next level next year as a member of the Castleton State College women’s team, NCSA Athletic Recruiting announced on Thursday.

A five-year start at the varsity level, Valancius finished an outstanding career for the Lady Raiders last weekend, scoring the only goal in a 2-1 loss to Section 3 champion Jamesville-Dewitt in the second round of the New York State Class A tournament. She also played a lead role in helping Massena put together an undefeated NAC Central Division season under the guidance of coach Ryan Hayes. Valancius finished the season with 13 goals and 14 assists as the Lady Raiders posted an overall record of 15-2-1.

As a member of the Castleton State team, Valancius will be joining one of the top Division III programs in the state of Vermont. The Spartans compete in the North Athletic Conference and recently completed a 15-5-1 season with a 3-1 loss to Middlebury College last Saturday in the first round of the NCAA tournament.
