POTSDAM – Three Malone residents were charged with petit larceny by state police at 4:25 p.m. Thursday.

Jayleen A. Charles, 40, of 12 Branch St., Ann M. Cook, 48, and Carl D. Shattuck, 45, both of 108 College Ave., were charged.

The three allegedly attempted to steal $547.01 worth of merchandise from Wal-Mart in Potsdam.

They are scheduled to appear in Potsdam Town Court.
