NICHOLVILLE - Empire State Developments Board of Directors has approved an Innovation Economy Matching Grant for SLIC Network Solutions, Inc.
SLIC Network Solutions, Inc. is a for-profit company located in Nicholville, that was formed in 1995 as an Internet Service Provider. SLIC has previously developed and managed last-mile fiber networks in Canton, Potsdam and Massena to provide voice and data services primarily to commercial customers.
The companys customers include hospitals, school districts, banks, county government, municipal governments, fire departments and police stations.
ESD is providing $2,225,033 in assistance to this more than $30 million project, which includes the purchasing of the necessary equipment and electronics to construct 660 miles of fiber optic cable to bring advanced broadband services, including voice and IPTV services, to 5,856 unserved households in St Lawrence County.
Project activities include construction, network design and grant administration.
The project began in September 2010 and is expected to be complete in March 2014.
SLIC is also constructing 136 miles of fiber optic cable and purchasing the necessary equipment and electronics to bring advanced broadband services, including voice and IPTV, to 726 unserved households in remote western Franklin County.
ESD is providing a grant of $425,987 towards the $5.75 million project, which includes construction, network design and grant administration.
The project began in September 2010 and is expected to be complete in March 2014.
