A Copenhagen man was referred to Jefferson County Drug Court after pleading guilty Wednesday in County Court to felony driving while intoxicated.
Joshua S. Alexander, 29, of 10144 Washington St., admitted he drove while intoxicated Sept. 19 on Route 177 in the town of Adams. If he successfully completes the substance abuse rehabilitation program that is designed to serve as an alternative to incarceration, he will be sentenced to five years probation, a $1,000 fine and revocation of his drivers license and be ordered to install an ignition interlock device in any vehicle he owns or operates.
If he is not successful, he faces a sentence of 11⁄3 to 4 years in state prison, a $3,500 fine and license revocation and will be subjected to the interlock provision.
