PULASKI Shane H. Lewis, 33, of 357 Valley Road, Richland, a two-time ex-convict, was arrested by state police Thursday on allegations that he forged and cashed six stolen checks.
Checks belonging to his mother, Bonnie J. Lewis, 57, same address, were cashed for a total of $260, police said.
Mr. Lewis is charged with second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument. He is being held without bail in Oswego County jail, Oswego.
According to the state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision website, he was released from prison in April 2011 after serving a term given him in Jefferson County Court in July 2007 for second-degree grand larceny. He also was sentenced to a prison term in August 2000 in Oswego County Court for burglary and unlawful imprisonment, and was discharged in March 2004.
