Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Gandarillas, 50 years


Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Gandarillas, Olympia, Wash., celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Nov. 17 with a family dinner.

Mr. Gandarillas, son of the late Carmen Gandarillas, and Sally Mizuri, daughter of the late John and Mary Mizuri, were married Nov. 17, 1962, at Hope Presbyterian Church with the late Rev. Robert Harmon officiating. Honor attendants were the late Paul Mizuri Jr., uncle of the bride, and Louise Brozozski, cousin of the bride.

Mrs. Gandarillas, a native of Watertown, graduated in 1956 from Watertown High School. She worked for the Agricultural Insurance Co., Watertown, for six years.

Mr. Gandarillas came to the United States in 1945 from Spain and was raised in New York City. He joined the Army in 1958 and was stationed at Camp Drum, now Fort Drum. Mr. Gandarillas retired from the Army in 1978 at Fort Lewis, Wash., and worked for the Olympia (Wash.) Police Department as a corrections officer, retiring in October 2000.

The couple has three sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Fran, Hopewell, Va., Andrew and Pam, Hayes, Va., and Joseph and Judy, Vancouver, Wash.; and six grandchildren.
