Winifred H. Hoag, age 90, resident of Sandy Creek, passed away Wednesday in Brooksville, FL. She was a resident of Sandy Creek since 1951. She had previously lived in Rensselaer, NY for 29 years, and she spent her winters in Summerfield, FL. Winifred was born September 12, 1922 in Albany. She graduated from Vincentian Institute in Albany in 1940, and she graduated from Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Albany in 1943. She also attended the College of Saint Rose. Winifred served in the United States Army Nurse Corps from 1944 until 1946 serving in Europe. She married William A. Hoag on June 7, 1947. She was employed by Sandy Creek Central School as a School Nurse. She was also employed as a Public Health Nurse for Oswego County and Visiting Nurse Association in Albany. Winifred was a member of St. James Episcopal Church in Pulaski, the Cable Trail Post #8534 VWF in Lacona, the Lake Ontario Chapter OES #124 in Sandy Creek, Tri-County Womens Veteran Association in Villages in Florida, and the Elms Golf Club.
Surviving, her husband, William A. Hoag, two sons, Christopher P. Hoag of Annapolis, MD, Thomas Christopher of Sandy Creek, one daughter Patricia Chapyak of Brooksville, FL, six grandchildren and one great-grandson.
A Memorial Service will be held in the Summer at a time to be announced. Donations may be made in Winifreds honor to Friends of the Pulaski Public Library, 4917 North Jefferson Street, Pulaski, NY 13142. Arrangements by Foster-Hax Funeral Home, 52 Park Street, Pulaski.
