STORAGE BARN FIRE - MASSENA A Monday night blaze that destroyed a barn remains under investigation, St. Lawrence County fire investigators said Tuesday.
Massena fire crews were dispatched 5:45 p.m. to 46 Cook St. and were at the scene for nearly two hours, but the barn ultimately was declared a total loss. Louisville Fire provided mutual aid assistance.
The structure, owned by John Mitchell, was insured, Investigator Andrew Barr said.
PETIT LARCENY - MASSENA - Massena-based state police charged Michelle L. Zakarauskas, 23, of Norfolk with petit larceny at 12:24 p.m. Monday following an incident at the St. Lawrence Centre mall.
PETIT LARCENY - MASSENA - Village police charged Candy Locey, 21, of 51 Grove St., Massena, with petit larceny at 4:20 p.m. Tuesday after she allegedly shoplifted $116.10 worth of merchandise from Walmart.
PROPERTY DAMAGE ACCIDENTS - CANTON - State police responded to several property damage accidents Monday and early Tuesday. Among those were:
■ Christina J. Deforge, 21, of Potsdam at 5:32 a.m. Tuesday on County Route 35, near McGinnis Road, in the town of Potsdam.
■ Ryan C. Getz, 18, of Potsdam at 6:25 p.m. Monday on state Route 72, near the Chapel Hill Road, in the town of Parishville.
■ Sonya M. Smith, 46, of Nicholville at 1:55 p.m. Monday on state Route 11B, near County Route 5, in the town of Dickinson.
SPEED NOT REASONABLE - POTSDAM - Village police ticketed Touria Souidi, 37, of Potsdam for speed not reasonable and prudent at 7:35 a.m. Monday on Leroy Street following an investigation into a property damage accident.
BURGLARY - CANTON Two Rensselaer Falls men face charges in connection with the theft of a pistol from a Todd Road home earlier this month, St. Lawrence County Sheriffs Department deputies said.
Richard H. Martin III, 18, of 30 East St., was charged with second-degree burglary and fourth-degree grand larceny for entering the Garrison Barcomb residence and stealing a revolver, deputies said.
Justin R. Butler, 22, of 681 County Route 14 was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property for being in possession of the stolen revolver, which has been recovered, deputies said.
Martin was arraigned before Lisbon Town Justice Phillip D. Fonda and sent to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility with bail set at $3,000 cash. Butler was arraigned before Canton Town Justice Cathleen E. OHoro and jailed in lieu of $1,500 cash bail.
BENCH WARRANT - MASSENA - Village police picked up Terry L. McGregor, Jr., 24, of 56 Sycamore St., Massena, on a bench warrant at 1:14 p.m. Monday . The warrant had been signed Oct. 18 by Massena Village Justice Eric J. Gustafson after McGregor failed to appear in village court as directed on a sixth-degree conspiracy charge stemming from a March 2011 incident. He was arraigned on the warrant by Mr. Gustafson and released to reappear Dec. 11 in Massena Village Court.
NO HEADLIGHT - MASSENA - Village police ticketed Jeffrey A. Provost, 49, of Newton Falls for operation of a vehicle with inadequate headlights at 4:50 p.m. Monday following a traffic stop on East Hatfield Street.
INADEQUATE BRAKE LIGHTS - MASSENA - Village police ticketed D.A. Van Brocklin, 46, of Pollock Road, Canton, for operation of a vehicle with inadequate brake lights at 10:30 a.m. Monday following a traffic stop on Main Street.
