SANDY CREEK — State police and the Oswego County Sheriff’s Department believe they have a common suspect in back-to-back armed holdup attempts late Sunday night in Pulaski and Sandy Creek.

Something apparently spooked a masked, gun-wielding man at 11:29 p.m. when he confronted employees in the Tops Market on Route 13 in Pulaski. Police said he demanded cash, but didn’t wait for his anticipated payoff.

A half-hour later, an armed bandit wearing a bandana over his face ran off with an undisclosed amount of cash after two clerks at Sandy Creek Mobil, 6980 N. Main St., yielded to his demand, according to state police.

Police said the lone robber displayed a handgun but fired no shots, and nobody was injured. He was last seen running north on Route 11, his tracks being covered by heavy snowfall, police said.

The white male was described as about 5 feet, 6 to 8 inches tall, and weighing about 180 pounds, wearing a brown jacket, green hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, a knit cap and a camouflage bandana.

Anybody with possible information is asked to call troopers at 298-1444 or 298-1470.
