During his tenure, Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper has accrued an impressive list of accomplishments abroad. In a time when Israels very survival is at stake in the face of an Iran intent upon nuclear arms in cooperation with North Korea, Mr. Harpers government has positioned itself strongly and credibly at Israels side. It closed its embassy in Tehran out of concern for the well being of Canadian citizens there, including diplomats, coupled with directing the Iranian diplomatic mission in Ottawa to take a hike within five days. Right on.
Mr. Harper seems to have limited respect for the United Nations, and properly so when, apart from a tiny handful of its specialized organizations, this once noble body has unwittingly marginalized itself into a vacuous debating society. Strongly to his credit, political correctness takes a back seat to simply being correct. Admirable.
One can only rejoice that a good citizen in the neighborhood consistently gets it right.
