NORWOOD - The Norwood Study Committee will be meeting at 5 p.m. Dec. 4 to discuss the results of a study to determine whether the village should dissolve, stay as it is, or incorporate its own township.
The 74-page report was the result of a months-long study by the Center for Governmental Research. It concluded that dissolving would save village residents tax money by sharing more services with the towns of Potsdam and Norfolk.
Creating a new town would likely raise taxes for residents currently living outside of village limits, and would likely provoke a political battle with Potsdam.
Regardless of what is discussed next week, the report is only a preliminary part of the process. It will still be months before action can be taken or final decisions made.
