Dr. Bernard R. Lustick, 87, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at his Watertown home.

He was born in Syracuse, NY on March 24, 1925, the son of Alex and Dorothy Lustick, and met his future wife, Renee Lipson when he was 11 and she was 8. They celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary this past June 22nd.

Dr. Lustick attended Syracuse University where he also went to Medical School. He began his pediatric training at Baltimore City Hospital. After serving in Korea as an army psychiatrist, he completed his pediatric residency at Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse. In 1954 he moved his family to Watertown to begin his life’s work as a pediatrician.

After almost 40 years in practice, in retirement Dr. Lustick continued to work for children in need by serving as a volunteer at Ohio Street School.

He is survived by his wife, Renee, 5 children and their spouses: Ian & Terri Lustick, Michael Lustick & Barbara Rickler, Susan Lustick & Lowell Garner, Marty & Karen Lustick, and David & Doreen Lustick. He is also survived by his brother, Sheldon Lustick, 12 grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 30th at 12 noon at the Degel Israel Synagogue. Arrangements are with the Cleveland Funeral Home, Watertown.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Degel Israel Synagogue, 557 Thompson Blvd. or Hospice of Jefferson County, Inc., 1398 Gotham St.
