BRASHER FALLS - The 2012-13 St. Lawrence Central varsity boys basketball team will look to continue the momentum of a breakthrough season starting this evening when they take on NAC rival Chateaugay in the first round of a tournament hosted by Northern Adirondack Central.
(We) are coming off the most successful season in school history. We won the North Division and we won the first ever Class C championship and played in first ever state playoff game, noted coach Joe Reome, who is entering his seventh year at the Larries varsity helm. I expect some growing pains replacing the backcourt and center positions, but the work ethic that those boys left is instilled in this group. This is a hard working bunch of kids and I expect with experience that we can compete once again for a Class C title.
Key returnees for the Larries this winter include senior forward Zane Ramsdell, an All-NAC First Team pick who averaged 13 points and eight rebounds per game as a junior, along with the junior guard duo of Josh White and Cody Meacham.
Also being counted on for leadership are veteran seniors Tyler Savage, Jessi Greer, Todd Ramsdell and Corey Labarge. Juniors expected to make an impact include Bradley Francis, Devon Young, Hunter Ramsdell and Shane Fuentes.
Tonights season opener in Ellenburgh is slated to top-off at 6 p.m.
