Mass of Christian Burial for Kenneth J. LaRue, 80, of Canton and formerly of Potsdam will be held on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at 11:00am at St. Marys Church, Canton with Rev. Douglas J. Lucia, celebrating. Burial will follow in the St. Marys Cemetery. Kenneth died on Friday, November 30, at the Highland Nursing Home, Massena.
Friends may call at the OLeary Funeral Home, 5821USH 11; Canton, on Tuesday, December 4, from 2p-4p and 7p-9p.
Surviving Kenneth are two sons, Robert J. LaRue of Potsdam; William D. LaRue and wife Kathleen of Liverpool; a daughter, Nancy A. Mittelstaedt and husband Alan of Canastota; a brother, Ronald LaRue of Massena; a sister, Jean LaPlante of Massena and four grandchildren, Brittany and John LaRue and Joseph and Kevin Mittelstaedt.
A brother JosephLaRue predeceased him.
Kenneth was born, January 27, 1932 in Potsdam, the son of the late Julius and Evelyn (Emburey) LaRue. He graduated from Norwood Schools and attended Canton ATI. Kenneth served in the US Army as Corporal, seeing combat in Korea in 1951. A marriage to Carol LaPlante ended in divorce. Kenneth was the Potsdam Village Clerk from 1975-1994. Kenneth was a member of the Canton VFW. He was longtime Facilitator of the Divorced and Separated Support Group at St. Marys Church in Potsdam and as a Facilitator in the Recovery group in Ogdensburg as well as a founding member of the Solo Singles.
