CARTHAGE — The Carthage/Wilna Fire District approved four new members for the Carthage Fire Department and hired a new paid driver during the Nov. 28 meeting.

New firefighters are Jordan McLane, Josh Scanlon, Shane O’Dell and Jackson Thatcher.

Adam Lundquist was hired as a spare driver.

Fire Chief Sean P. McHale reported that it had been a relatively quiet month, but even with more members, he still had “concerns of adequate manpower in the event of a fire.”

The annual commissioner election will be held at the fire hall, 685 S. James St., from 6 to 9 p.m.Tuesday. Commissioner Ernest L. Prievo is the only name on the ballot.
