Ogdensburg man escapes serious injury in farm accident

OGDENSBURG - An Ogdensburg farmer was taken by ambulance to Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center at 2:45 Monday after he was pinned between a tractor and a hay header.

John H. Wilson, 78, was transporting the equipment at his farm at 4184 County Route 6 with a small tractor when the accident occurred.

According to state police, Mr. Wilson was standing on the back of a tractor driven by his son, Kenneth A., which was towing the hay header. When Kenneth Wilson attempted to make a turn, the hay header continued moving straight and pinned John Wilson against the tractor. The equipment shifted again and he was able to lie down while waiting for emergency personnel.

Mr. Wilson complained of pain on the right side of his back, but did not appear to have suffered life-threatening injuries.

Trooper John E. Arquitt is the investigating officer. No further details were immediately available.
