PIERREPONT A home on Butternut Ridge Road in the town of Pierrepont was declared a total loss after a fire that also destroyed two vehicles and killed the family dog.
Pierrepont firefighters responded to the 1:07 a.m. Monday call at the 93 Butternut Ridge Road property owned by Alan Gollinger. Firefighters said that Mr. Gollinger was treated at the scene for a minor injury but that he declined transport to the hospital. The other resident of the home, Angela Ortiz, was uninjured.
Mutual aid was provided by firefighters from Hannawa Falls, Colton, Potsdam and Parishville, and the Potsdam Volunteer Rescue Squad also responded.
Police said the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Firefighters remained on the scene until 3:11 a.m., then were called back when the fire rekindled at 10:15 a.m.
