Queensbury- Gerald Jerry D. Carr, 54, passed away on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at home after a long illness surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on August 9, 1958 in Watertown, NY, the son of David and the late Barbara (Carpenter) Carr.
Jerry is a veteran of the US Air Force. He served as an E4 Sergeant in the CONUS theatres from February 1981 to March 1985.
He went to Clarkson University, where he got a bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering. After graduating he was an employee of NewChannels in Carthage where he met his wife Laurie. He then moved on to Champion International, Optimation Technology and Interface Solutions. Prior to his illness, Jerry was employed at Finch Paper.
Jerry was a member of the American Legion of Carthage, NY. He enjoyed camping and golfing. He was also an avid NASCAR fan.
Besides his mother, Jerry is predeceased by his brother, Matthew W. Carr and niece, Eileen Carr.
Survivors include his wife, Laurie Carr of Queensbury; daughter, Heather Carr of Watertown, NY; stepson, Travis Zehr of Queensbury; his father, David Carr; sisters, Maureen Renie Carr and Kathleen Zecher and husband, Calvin all of Watertown, NY; sister-in-law, MaryAnn Carr of Manlius, NY; grandchildren, Mariah Carr, Jenica, Kaleb, and Jerry Finneran; brother in law, Gene Burke and wife Brenda of Watertown, NY; mother and father-in-law, Gene and Virginia Burke of Carthage, NY; along with several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.A funeral service will be conducted at 7 p.m. on Friday, December 14, 2012 at Regan Denny Stafford Funeral Home, 53 Quaker Road, Queensbury.
Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
Calling hours for family and friends will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, December 14, 2012 at Regan Denny Stafford Funeral Home, 53 Quaker Road, Queensbury, prior to the service.
