WATERTOWN- Doris Dottie Barkley, 92, a former resident of Carthage and Antwerp, died Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at The Samaritan Keep Home in Watertown, where she had been a resident since 2002.
She was born on May 17, 1920 in Oswegatchie to John and Elizabeth Jackson Beebee. She graduated from school in Oswegatchie. She married Kenneth G. Barkley on April 6, 1938 in Harrisville. Mr. Barkley died on August 1, 1987.
She was a Barmaid for many years in various Carthage Area Establishments.
She is survived by six children, three sons, Wayne, Watertown; Norman and his wife Molly, Carthage; Terry and his wife Amy, Carthage; and 3 daughters, Mrs. Claude (Sharon) Culbertson, Antwerp; Mrs. Charles (Judy) Hickman, North Carolina; and Katherine and Riki Barkley, Watertown. She is also survived by 20-grandchildren and many great –grandchildren. She was the last remaining sibling out of 7 children. She enjoyed acting; she often imitated Minnie Pearl at the Keep Home.
Calling Hours will be held on Sunday, December 16, 2012 from 3-5pm at the Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service Inc., located at 500 State Street in Carthage. A calling hour will be held on Monday, December 17, 2012 from10:00-11:00am at the Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday at 11:00am in the Lundy Funeral Home Chapel with The Reverend Ron Farr, officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Watertown.
