RUSSELL- Janet Ann Bullock, age 75, of Russell, passed away on Sunday, December 16, 2012 at Fletcher-Allen Hospital in Burlington, VT where she had been a patient for one week.
Calling hours will be on Thursday, December 20, 2012 from 2:00-6:00 p.m. at French Funeral Home, Edwards. The funeral will be on Friday, December 21st at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edwards with Fr. Stephen Rocker officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Edwards. Janet was born on July 26, 1937 in Watertown, NY to the late William and Genevieve (Amo) Wiese. She graduated from Knox Memorial High School in 1954 and then went on to graduate from A. Barton Hepburn School of Nursing in 1957 where she received the Ideal Nurse Award. After graduating, Janet stayed at the Nursing School and taught there for three years.
Janet married Leland Bullock on May 28, 1960 at St. Marys Catholic Church in Canton. She worked as a school nurse at Hermon-Dekalb Central School from 1976 until her retirement in 1999. She was a past member of the Canton Club Co-ed Bowling League and Edwards Bowling League, and Knox Memorial Alumni Association. Janet enjoyed traveling having been all over the United States and Ireland. She also enjoyed playing the piano, her family especially her grandchildren, and sitting on her front porch. Everyone that came to her house was welcomed with open arms and a warm smile including a foreign exchange student from France in 1984. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Leland; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Julie Bullock of Russell; three daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and Darren Colton of Dekalb, Kathleen and Robert Hance of Dekalb and Patricia and Michael Bush of Gouverneur; three brothers, William Billy Wiese of Moira, Paul Butch and Sharon Wiese of Chateaugay and Robert Tim and Janet of Dryden; a sister, Karen Fuller and her companion, Donald Bull Fuller of McGraw; 12 grandchildren, triplets Jenna Colton, Krista Murray and Samantha Deleel; Davey, Jesse, Jadilynn and Jarrett Bullock; Meghan, Cameron and Kari Hance; and Morgan and Emily Bush; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Donations may be made in Janets memory to the Russell Volunteer Rescue Squad or to the Russell Opera House or to a charity of ones choice.
