Watertown- June A. Commeret, 89, loving mother, wife and grandmother, passed away Saturday, December 15th at the Samaritan Keep Nursing Home where she had resided since July of 2009.
A memorial service will be at 10 am Saturday, December 29th, 2012 at the Stone Presbyterian Church, 140 Chestnut St., Watertown. Burial was held in Lakeside Cemetery, Sackets Harbor. Calling hours will be from 4 pm - 6 pm on Friday, December 28th, 2012 at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home, Watertown. Contributions may be made to the Dr. Charles E. Commeret, Sr. Scholarship fund at Watertown High School or Sackets Harbor High School, c/o Northern New York Community Foundation, 120 Washington St., Suite 400, Watertown, NY 13601, or to the Stone Presbyterian Church.
June was born January 27, 1923 in Watertown, a daughter to Morgan and Jessie Holden Outwater. She graduated from Sackets High School in 1940. June married Charles E. Commeret, Sr. in Brooklyn in 1942. Dr. Commeret, former superintendent of the Sackets Harbor School District and retired superintendent of the Watertown City School District passed away in 1986.
Mrs. Commeret was a member of the Stone Presbyterian Church, serving as Deacon, the Watertown Christian Womens Group and the American Legion Post 61 Auxiliary. She also volunteered at the Samaritan Medical Center.
She is survived by her children, Charles, Jr. (Jill), Watertown; Randy (Chris), Grand Rapids, MI; Cathleen Commeret-Whitcomb (Alan), Theresa; Cynthia Meeker (Douglas), Grand Rapids, MI; Stephen (Tanna), Watertown. Ten grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
