A new scholarship will soon be available for Jefferson County students.
Jefferson Leadership Institute and Northern New York Community Foundation announced Thursday that they have created a scholarship fund for high school juniors who demonstrate a sincere commitment to local civic engagement, according to a press release.
The amount of money and number of scholarships will depend on how much the institute is able to raise. Also included in the award is one year of mentorship by someone who has served in the program.
Scholarship forms will be sent to high school guidance counselors in February, according to the press release. The application deadline is April 1.
To make a donation to the scholarship fund, checks can be made payable to the NNYCF at 120 Washington Street, Suite 400, Watertown, New York 13601. In the memo line, write JLI Scholarship.
