CANTON — An Ogdensburg man faces grand larceny charges after he allegedly tried to return two stolen television sets to the Walmart store in Potsdam last month.

Mariano T. Patterson, 46, was arrested Thursday night and charged with fourth-degree grand larceny and sixth-degree conspiracy in connection with the Nov. 30 incident, state police at Canton said.

Mr. Patterson and three other people were involved in a plan to return TVs worth $598 and $348 to the retail store on Route 11, troopers said.

He was arraigned in Norfolk Town Court and committed to the St. Lawrence County jail, Canton, in lieu of $7,000 bail.

The other suspects, all of Ogdensburg and also arrested Thursday and arraigned in Norfolk, were:

■ Amy L. Patterson, 38, charged with sixth-degree conspiracy and released on her own recognizance.

■ Aaron D. Wells, 18, charged with sixth-degree conspiracy, fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and jailed in lieu of $2,000 bail.

■ Leo F. Lalonde, 35, charged with sixth-degree conspiracy, fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and jailed in lieu of $2,000 bail.

Troopers said they are still investigating the incident, which could involve additional merchandise.
