LOWVILLE – Herbert H. Farney, 84, of 6808 Bardo Road, died Wednesday evening, December 19, 2012 at his home, while under the care of his loving family and Lewis County Hospice

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at the Lowville Baptist Church, with Rev. Anthony Bradseth, Pastor, and Rev. Evan Zehr officiating. Burial will follow the funeral service in Beaches Bridge Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are with Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Lowville Baptist Church Memorial Fund, 7627 N. State St., Lowville, NY 13367; or to Friends of Lewis County Hospice, P.O. Box 266, Lowville, NY 13367.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Berneda; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Gary H. and Karen Farney of Morrisville, NY; Stephen L. Farney of Lowville; Dale B. and Shannon Farney of Lowville; a sister, Janet Burnham of Lowville; three grandchildren and step-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Farney is predeceased by two brothers, Wilbur Ross Farney and Paul Webster Farney; twin sisters, Betty and Bessie Farney; and his brother-in-law, Stewart Burnham.

Herb was born on November 6, 1928 in Croghan, NY, a son of the late Webster P. and Alvena E. Farney. He graduated from Lowville Academy in 1947. On October 30, 1951, he married Berneda Hirschy at the home of the bride’s parents, with Rev. William W. Sawin, Pastor of Lowville Baptist Church officiating. He worked on the family farm, and ran the farm in a partnership with his brother, Wilbur, until 1976, and later with his sons, Gary and Stephen. Presently, the farm is owned by his sons, Stephen and Dale.

Mr. Farney was a member of Lowville Baptist Church. He was a member of the National and Lewis County Holstein Association, and a former member of the Lowville Grange and various farm related organizations.
