DAYTON, Ohio The Dayton Demonz scored three unanswered goals in the third period to break open a close game and dispatch the Thousand Islands Privateers, 6-3, on Friday night in a Federal Hockey League encounter at Hara Arena.
Jesse Felten scored two goals and Jason Hill totaled four points, including a goal in the third period for the first-place Demonz (20-3), who remained undefeated at home in 11 games.
Trailing 2-0 after one period, the Privateers (13-10) scored three goals to draw even at 3-3 with Kris McCarthy scoring a power-play goal at 14 minutes, 42 seconds of the middle period for tying goal.
But Seth Ronsberg scored the go-ahead goal for Dayton on the power play 5:49 into the third period and, after Hill set up Feltens tally at 9:34, he scored an empty-net goal at 18:44.
Peter Campbell scored an unassisted goal and had an assist for Thousand Islands, now 4-7 on the road.
Goalie Matt Anthony, who was signed by the Syracuse Crunch for a pro tryout on Tuesday and was cut by the American Hockey League team on Thursday, made 49 saves. The Privateers play at Dayton at 7:35 tonight.
