DAYTON, Ohio The Thousand Islands Privateers finally found a way to cool off the Dayton Demonz.
Adam McAllister scored 1 minute, 50 seconds into overtime to lift the Privateers over the Demonz, 5-4 on Saturday night in a Federal Hockey League game at Hara Arena.
McAllister also registered a pair of assists for Thousand Islands (14-10), which won for the first time in four meetings against first-place Dayton (20-4), and also snapped an eight-game winning streak by the Demonz.
Goalie Matt Anthony stopped 49 of 53 shots for the win for the Privateers, who improved to 4-1 in overtime decisions.
After Daytons Ahmed Mahfouz was unsuccessful on his penalty shot attempt with 10:17 remaining in regulation, Thousand Islands Brent Tamane scored a power-play goal with 7:47 left and Justin MacDonald scored the tying goal, which was set up by Tamane, with 44 seconds left.
Tamane and Peter Campbell each finished with a goal and two assists for Thousand Islands.
Jeff Rose made 44 saves for Dayton.
The Privateers will host the Danville Dashers at 7:35 p.m. Thursday and Friday and wrap up their homestand against the Williamsport Outlaws at 7:35 p.m. next Saturday.
