Lori S. Smith, 39, of 40172 County Route 40, Carthage, was charged Sunday night by Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies with seventh-degree possession of a controlled substance and petit larceny.

She is accused of taking $100 in merchandise from the Sears store at the Salmon River Mall and of having a small amount of drugs with her when she was arrested. She was given an appearance ticket for Watertown Town Court.
