POTSDAM — A Potsdam man was ordered held in the St. Lawrence County jail, Canton, on Monday on unpaid fines and not showing up in court to answer charges.

Justin G. Smith, 29, of 190 Baker Road, was stopped by sheriff’s deputies for driving a pickup truck on Baker Road with an expired inspection, deputies said.

Mr. Smith told deputies his license was suspended for failure to appear and failure to pay fines in five separate courts in the county.

He was charged with driving an uninspected motor vehicle, unlicensed operation and a misdemeanor charge of second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation.

He was arraigned in Pierrepont Town Court and ordered held on $250 bail.
