Floyd E. Berry Jr.


Town of Ellisburg — Floyd E. Berry, Jr., 59, passed away at his home on Rt 3, Town of Ellisburg, after being stricken ill early in the day on Saturday.

The funeral will be 11 am Friday, December 28th at the Carpenter-Stoodley Funeral Home, Belleville, with Rev. Jane Eastham, Pastor of the Henderson United Methodist Church officiating. Spring burial will be in Ellisburg Cemetery. Calling hours are at the funeral home on Thursday, December 27th from 5 pm – 8 pm. Contributions may be made to the SPCA, 25056 Water St., Watertown, NY 13601.

Floyd was born in Miami, FL, February 5, 1953, a son to Floyd E. Berry, Sr. and Veronica Baublitz Berry. He graduated from Union Academy Belleville in 1971 and later received a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from SUNY Oswego.

In his early years, Floyd worked for Harbor Builders in Henderson and Eastman Construction in Ellisburg. He later worked for many years for Keith’s Radio and TV in both Belleville and Pulaski. He worked for TYCO Industries in Watertown for 9 years and was currently working as a lab technician for Aerotek at Bristol-Myers Squibb in Syracuse.

As a young man, Floyd was a motorcycle enthusiast. He enjoyed being with his cats and dog.

Floyd is survived by two brothers and a sister-in-law, Arthur D. and Linda, Woodville; Kevin D., Fairport. His sister Kathleen A. Mathews, Arlington, VA. Many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father in 1982, his mother in 1979. A brother Robert L. Mathews died in 2000. Floyd’s companion of many years, Valarie Briot, passed away August 15, 2006.
