CANTON — Four Gouverneur residents were arrested Wednesday afternoon in connection with an investigation into stolen firearms, state police said Thursday.

Jayda L. Jones, 16, Anthony Montoya, 21, Jeannette M. Lashbrooks, 44, and a 15-year-old girl were each charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a firearm, troopers said.

Ms. Lashbrooks also was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, while Mr. Montoya and the juvenile were charged with making a false written statement. A state police sergeant said two guns were stolen during a robbery in the town of Gouverneur earlier this month.

Ms. Lashbrooks was jailed in lieu of bail, while the other suspects were released on appearance tickets.

The incident remains under investigation, and further details were not immediately available on Thursday.
