WCNYs 8th annual Treehouse Tales Young Writers and Illustrators Contest begins Wednesday. The annual event, open to students in grades 1 through 4, promotes literacy and creative expression by encouraging children to write and illustrate their own stories.
Students in the Central New York public television stations 19-county viewing area are eligible to enter the contest. The deadline for all entries is March 1. Contest rules and entry forms are available at www.wcny.org/education/treehouse-tales or by contacting Kristoffer Robert, WCNYs family literacy coordinator, at Kristoffer_robert@wcny.org or 453-2424.
All entrants will receive a certificate of participation. WCNYs judging teams will choose a first-, second- and third-place winner from each grade, with prizes awarded at a public awards ceremony in April where winners will present their tales.
