CALCIUM — A Calcium man was injured Friday afternoon in a two-vehicle accident on Route 342 in the town of Leray.

Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies said Matthew R. LaQuay, 25, of 22656 Lewis Ave., Apt. 24, had stopped at a stop sign while traveling on County Route 32 at about 1 p.m. when he pulled away into the path of a vehicle operated by Tameka R. DeLoach, 20, Ward, Ala., causing the crash.

Mr. LaQuay was taken to Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown, for treatment of back pain. Neither Ms. DeLoach nor a passenger were injured. Mr. LaQuay was charged with failure to yield the right of way and being an unlicensed operator.
