I found the reasoning for a different rate for government cost-of-living adjustments interesting. It was stated that with a lesser amount people found ways to cut back and were not affected much. My interpretation is that we were buying brand name peas and dropped to store or off-brand. Now we cant afford peas.
There is no way to cut back our property taxes short of selling and moving into subsidized housing. There is no way to escape higher rates on every service we use.
Some of us are able to remember the Depression and dont want to see it repeated in our personal lives because of tinkering with what started as a self-sustaining system until government saw some monies they just had to get hold of. Now its called entitlement.
