SOUTH RUTLAND- Herbert M. Cramer, 93, passed away Monday, December 31, 2012 at the family farm on Cramer Road.

Mr. Cramer owned a dairy farm on Cramer Road, operating it until his retirement in 1987.

Born November 29, 1919 in Watertown, son of Raymond H. and Nellie Dean Cramer, he graduated from Adams Center High School in the Class of 1938. While in high school, he was a catcher on the baseball team.

He married Beulah M. Maltby on September 4, 1965, at South Rutland Community Baptist Church with the Rev. Thomas Wright officiating.

Mr. Cramer was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed dancing, reading, archery, golf, and bowling. He and his wife spent their retirement winters in Florida.

In his younger days, Herb played baseball for local town teams, and was an active participant in community plays in the Town of Rutland. He was a participant in many Old Home Day parades in South Rutland.

Herb was a member of the South Rutland Valley Grange, South Rutland Community Baptist Church, and the Club 47 Dinner Club at the Rutland Congregational Church.

He was an original member of the Tylerville Volunteer Fire Department, and served for many years on the Town of Rutland Board of Assessment Review.

Surviving are his wife, Beulah; his son and his wife, Raymond and Catherine Cramer, South Rutland; his daughter and her husband, Catherine Cramer-Williams and David Williams, Carthage; six grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

A brother, Lyle Cramer, and a sister, Marion Cramer-Smith, died before him.

Calling hours are 2:00-4:00pm and 7:00-9:00pm Thursday at the Piddock Funeral Home, Adams. Funeral will be 11:00am Friday at the funeral home with Rev. Leonard Flack, pastor of the North Country Fellowship Church, Carthage, officiating. Burial at the convenience of the family.

Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 120 Washington St, Watertown, NY 13601 or the Rutland Volunteer Fire Department, Inc., 28502 NYS Rt 126, Black River, NY 13612.
