Donald J. Bowman, Sr., 68, 22732 Co. Rt. 16, Watertown, passed away Sunday, December 30, 2012 at his home under the care of Hospice of Jefferson County and his family.

Mr. Bowman was born April 22, 1944 in Plessis, New York a son of the late Dwain and Florence McConnell Bowman. He graduated from Watertown High School in 1962. He married Carol LaBrie in 1966 at St. Mary’s Church in Evans Mills. Mr. Bowman worked at the House of the Good Samaritan Hospital in the laundry department. He later worked at Borden’s Dairy on California Avenue, as a machinist retiring because of poor health.

He is a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Evans Mills and a member of the Teamsters Local #687. His hobbies were playing bingo, embroidery, growing house plants and watching game shows. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Before his illness he enjoyed traveling.

Surviving besides his wife Carol of 46 years, a son, serving in the US Army, Staff Sergeant Donald J., Jr. and his wife April, stationed at Camp Henry South Korea, three daughters and their husbands, Sheila and Arnold Hollenbeck, Watertown, Stephanie and Jack Jones, Antwerp, Amy and Jamie Dunbar, Lafayette, Indiana, a brother Larry and his wife Donna Bowman, Black River, two sisters and their husbands, Lou Anne and Robert Rowsam, Roxanne and James Houghmaster both of Watertown. Eleven grandchildren, three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by two brothers, Richard and Dwain Bowman.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, January 2, 2013 from 3-5 and 7-9P.M. at D.L. Calarco Funeral Home, Inc. A funeral Mass will be held Thursday at 10 A.M. at St. Mary’s Church in Evans Mills with Reverend Thomas Kornmeyer officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Watertown.

The family would like express their thanks to Dr. Poggi and his entire staff , Dr. Kimball, Dr. Rhode, and his surgeon Dr. Kim for all the excellent care Donald received during his illness. Contribution may be made in his name to Hospice of Jefferson County, 1398 Gotham Street, Watertown, NY, 13601.
