CANTON A town resident was arrested Wednesday after he allegedly choked his ex-girlfriend during a domestic incident on Tuesday night.
Randy S. Guyette, 23, of 125 Pink Schoolhouse Road, faces one count of criminal obstruction of breathing, one count of second-degree criminal trespass, both misdemeanors, and one count of second-degree harassment with physical contact, a violation, state police at Canton said.
Troopers did not release the 26-year-old womans name.
Mr. Guyette shoved the woman several times and choked her during the altercation at about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday at her home on Route 11, state police said. When she was free of his grip the woman told Mr. Guyette to leave, but he refused. The dispute continued for a time, ending when Mr. Guyette shoved her into a refrigerator and left on his own, troopers said.
Mr. Guyette was arraigned in Pierrepont Town Court and released on his own recognizance, with an order of protection issued for the woman. He is to appear in Canton Town Court on Wednesday to answer the charges.
