H. Bruce Baldwin, 86, Lorraine Street, Mannsville, passed away January 1, 2013 at his home under the care of his family.

Born August 1, 1926 in Mannsville, a son of Walter P. and Mary Pryor Baldwin, he lived most of his life in Mannsville.

The funeral for Bruce Baldwin will be 2 pm Friday, January 4th, 2013 at the Carpenter-Stoodley Funeral Home, Belleville, with Rev. Mary Drake, Pastor of the Mannsville United Methodist Church officiating. Spring burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery, Mannsville. There are no calling hours.

Following his graduation from Syracuse University he married Jane Taylor on June 15, 1949 in the Town of Ellisburg. Between 1949 and 1956 he and his wife lived in Hancock and then Mohawk, NY where he taught sciences at Hancock Central School and Mohawk Central School before returning to live at the family home in Mannsville in 1956. He then taught sciences at Mannsville Manor Central School and South Jefferson Central School until his retirement in 1981. He also owned and operated the Lookout Tower Restaurant in Henderson, NY for a short time and a small insurance business from his home in Mannsville for many years.

Throughout his life he was active in community affairs serving on the cemetery board and the Mannsville Methodist Church board. He enjoyed boating in Henderson Harbor, snowmobiling in the area and supporting Syracuse University sports. After his retirement he and his wife enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and abroad.

Surviving are his daughters Gail and her husband Charles Vaadi of Mannsville; Cynthia Baldwin and her husband Samuel Black of Leverett, MA; Janice and her husband Edward Burns of Sandy Creek and a son Jerry Baldwin and his wife Kathy of Pierrepont Manor; eleven grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his wife, Jane, sisters Dorothy Pirello and Arlene Domres and a brother Howard Baldwin.
