GRAND LARCENY - A Malone man working at the Valehaven Home for Adults last week has been charged with stealing a residents debit card while he was doing room checks in the early morning hours of Jan. 3.
Village police charged Patrick A. Bobbie, 35, of 35 Franklin St., Malone, with fourth-degree grand larceny Wednesday following an investigation into the theft of the residents debit card. Bobbie allegedly used the debit card to get $200 at 7:27 a.m. Jan. 3 at the On A Roll Deli and withdrew an additional $350 from the Seacomm ATM at 11:10 p.m. that same day.
Bobbie, in a statement he signed for police, said he had seen the residents debit card on top of his dresser when he was doing room checks at approximately 3 a.m. Jan. 3 and decided to take it. The police investigation was aided by the use of surveillance video, according to court documents.
The Malone man was arraigned by Massena Village Justice Eric J. Gustafson and released under the supervision of the probation department.
A number of adults with developmental disabilities reside at the Valehaven Home.
