BEAVER FALLS Officials are investigating a false bomb threat discovered Monday afternoon at Beaver River Central School.
Its an unfortunate state of the times, District Superintendent Leueen Smithling said Tuesday, suggesting the perpetrator may have copied the recent actions of students in other districts.
The threat was discovered written on the wall of a boys bathroom at the school, which houses kindergarten through 12th grade, Mrs. Smithling said.
Authorities were notified, leading to a rapid response from both the Lewis County Sheriffs Department and state police, she said.
Nobody had to be evacuated, but writing samples were taken from students to help officials find the culprit or culprits, Mrs. Smithling said.
Deputies returned to campus for follow-up discussions Tuesday morning, and several district administrators spent most of the day on the case.
The investigation is continuing, Mrs. Smithling said.
