St. Lawrence University freshman forward Sean McGovern has been named ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week based on voting by the leagues coaches.
McGovern recorded his first multi-point game in the Saints 4-3 loss to RIT on Friday, assisting on all three goals, and earned his fourth point of the weekend when he assisted on Kyle Esserys game-winning goal in a 4-3 win over the Tigers on Saturday night to secure the 1,000th victory in the programs history.
A right wing from Milton, Ontario, McGovern has five points, all assists, in 19 games this season.
McGovern is the first Saint to win the ECACs weekly rookie honor this season and the third individual to earn a weekly honor. Kyle Flanagan was a two-time player of the week and Matt Weninger was a two-time goaltender of the week earlier this season.
The Saints return to ECAC playby hosting Yale and Brown at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
