CANTON — A Brasher woman pleaded guilty Thursday in St. Lawrence County Court for her role in an October 2011 burglary in Massena.

Micheline M. Cogdill, 24, of 511 Hurley Road, admitted to charges of second-degree attempted burglary in connection with the theft of a jewelry box filled with rings, necklaces, watches, charms and earrings from the Liberty Avenue residence of Tammy Stark.

Ms. Cogdill and another woman, Heather R. Deragon, 19, of 32 Howard St., Massena, were charged by Massena police with felony counts of second-degree burglary and fourth-degree grand larceny in the case. Ms. Deragon also was charged with second-degree criminal trespass.

Ms. Deragon pleaded guilty to fourth-degree grand larceny during an Aug. 7 appearance in County Court. She was due to be sentenced in October, but the proceeding was adjourned to resolve halfway house and public assistance issues. The St. Lawrence County district attorney’s office on Thursday said records showed Ms. Deragon’s sentencing was still pending.

Ms. Cogdill’s sentencing is set for March 7.

In other County Court action:

Martin E. Maxwell, 52, of 391 Willard Road, Massena, pleaded guilty Thursday to second-degree criminal mischief and second-degree assault with intent to cause physical injury, both class D felonies.

The Louisville man was arrested after he slammed his truck into the rear of a vehicle belonging to a man seeing his estranged wife on Jan. 28. That vehicle was slammed through the garage, striking a parked 1987 Chevrolet Corvette that was pushed through the rear wall of the garage.

Sentencing for Mr. Maxwell also has been scheduled for March 7.
