Brandon Mullin used his elusiveness in open ice to figure on all three goals and defenseman Burke Comeau netted the eventual game-winner with his first goal of the season as OFA blanked Tupper Lake 3-0 on Wednesday for its second straight home win in Wednesdays NAC Hopckey action.
Comeau rifled home a power play shot from the point from Mullin and Joe Giglio and Mullin converted a setup created Drew Costigan and Jake Garrison in the first period as OFA took control by generating 20 shots on goal.
But the Devils managed to put the puck behind Tupper Lake goalie Marcus Richer only one other time as the stalwart netminder fielded 48 shots on the night.
We generated a lot offense tonight but we only scored three times on 51 shots. We will have to convert our chances better on Friday when we host Canton (4:30 p.m. start). That is going to be a very tough game, said OFA Coach Jon Frederick after the Devils retained a share of the NAC Division II lead (in the loss column) at 5-1 with 6-1 St. Lawrence Central which downed Malone (3-3) 7-3.
Canton lost to Potsdam 3-1 on Wednesday.
Burke Comeau has a very good shot and one-timed the puck right along the ice tonight along the ice to score and Brandon Mullin picked up two assists off nice passes. I have to credit their goalie (Marcus Richer). He is very good and he faced alot of shots tonight, said Frederick.
Mullin netted the Devils third goal with an unassisted effort in the second period.
OFA netminder Dave Prudhomme stopped 10 shots to record a shutout.
In the other game of the night Norwood-Norfolk (3-2) downed Thousand Islands (2-5-0), 5-2
