Police investigate mysterious note in Alexandria Bay

ALEXANDRIA BAY — The village police are seeking information on a note apparently being left on sidewalks around Alexandria Bay criticizing the town of Alexandria highway superintendent and Town Council members.

Chief James M. Marshall said no formal complaints have been made but two people so far have reported finding a note complaining about the roads not being properly plowed and criticizing Highway Superintendent David Bain and the council for not addressing the shortcomings.

Mr. Marshall said the letter, which starts by asserting town taxpayers need to “wake up or someone’s going to die,” doesn’t threaten anyone’s life but warns people might get hurt because of the road conditions.

Residents who have seen a person distributing the note or have more information are encouraged to contact police at 482-2506.
