SACKETS HARBOR — The chief of the Sackets Harbor Fire Department, Randy L. Cloe, has stepped down, citing new family and job responsibilities that interfered with holding the position.

The resignation was announced by Councilman Vincent J. Battista at the Hounsfield Town Council meeting Wednesday night.

Kenneth M. Lawrence Jr., the department’s first assistant chief, will serve as interim chief until the department holds elections in April.
