SANDY CREEK — Indian River earned the top score on Saturday to claim the “A” Division title during the Frontier League cheerleading championships at Sandy Creek.

The Warriors’ Brenna Chisamore and Tori Clyde, who were named the league’s top tumbler and top jumper, respectively, helped Indian River tally 330 points. Watertown took second with 226.5 points.

In the “D” Division, Copenhagen (322 points) finished with the second-best score in the league while capturing its eighth consecutive division crown.

During Jennifer Spaulding’s 20 years coaching the squad, the Golden Knights have earned 13 league titles. Belleville Henderson (210.5) finished second out of four teams in the division.

Sandy Creek (313) claimed the “C” Division, and South Jefferson (276.5) won the “B” Division.

WRESTLING

SPARTANS CAPTURE OWN DUALS

South Jefferson finished 5-0 to earn the team title during the Spartan Duals at Adams.

Victor (4-1) placed second, while Indian River (3-2) took third place out of six teams.

Ryan Charlebois (195 pounds), Daniel Smith (170), Trevor Cowles (160), Holden Pelton (132) and Caleb Beach (106) went undefeated for the Spartans.

Derrick Gray (138, 145) earned his 100th career pin for Indian River, while teammate Nick Toutant (126) recorded his 100th career win.

VOLLEYBALL

SOUTH LEWIS 3, INDIAN RIVER 0

Chloe Stinebrickner supplied 17 assists and five service points to lead the Falcons to a Frontier League interdivision sweep of the Warriors, 25-16, 25-12, 25-19, at Philadelphia.

Jayne Strigle added seven service points and 16 digs, while Gabrielle Hartley registered five service points for South Lewis (8-4).

Asia Bliss had five kills and three blocks for Indian River (1-10, 1-9).

HOCKEY

MALONE 4, IHC 2

Shawn Mulverhill provided a pair of assists and Joey Brown made 23 saves to lead the Huskies on the second day of the Malone Tournament.

Kyler Head, Jake Perry, Neil Bailey and Trevor Henderson each scored for Malone (6-4-1).

Jordan Trudeau assisted on both goals and Grant Chamberlain stopped 26 shots for Immaculate Heart (2-9-1).

S. GLENS FALLS-HUDSON FALLS 5, TUPPER LAKE 1

DJ Fish and Kurt Atkins each netted a pair of goals as the Bulldogs (3-8-2) downed the Lumberjacks in the Malone Tournament.

Jon Kopp scored for Tupper Lake (1-9-2).

LANCASTER 4, POTSDAM 3

Ryan Haynes’s second goal of the game came at 4 minutes, 33 seconds of the third period as the Redskins edged the Sandstoners to win the championship of the Massena tournament.

Lancaster’s Austin Gallagher was named tournament MVP, while Bill Delano also earned a slot on the all-tournament team.

Devin Crary made 21 saves for Potsdam (7-3).

MASSENA 4, RFA 3 (OT)

Zach Robert scored at 57 seconds of overtime to help the Red Raiders upset the previously unbeaten Black Knights in the second day of the Massena tourney.

Tyler Young supplied a goal and two assists for Massena (7-4-1).

Tyler Williams tied the game on the power play for Rome Free Academy (12-1-0) with just 29 seconds left.

ST. LAWRENCE 4, NORWOOD-NORFOLK 2

Ian Lynch registered a hat trick as the Larries beat the Flyers in the second day of the Norwood-Norfolk tournament in Norfolk.

Lucas Arquiett had three assists for St. Lawrence (9-2, 7-1).

Austin Cousineau and Troy Kovach both scored for Norwood-Norfolk (6-6, 4-3).

Northwood Prep beat Plattsburgh 5-2 to win the tournament title.
