HOGANSBURG St. Regis Mohawk Tribal Police are investigating a bomb threat they say was made Sunday morning to the tribal council building on Route 37.
According to a statement from tribal police, a man called them about 8:30 a.m. Sunday and claimed he placed a bomb in the building. Officers searched the facility with state police dogs for about a half hour and did not find anything.
Tribal Police Chief Andy Thomas said the threat could be accurately classified as a prank. Were going to move forward with charges regardless, he said Monday afternoon.
The release said police have identified the suspect. His name was not released. Chief Thomas said he is in the process of filing yet-to-be-determined charges, and an arrest could be made as soon as Wednesday.
