ALEXANDRIA BAY — Lee D. Fitch, 62, of 11a Bethune St., died unexpectedly Saturday afternoon at his home.

Born December 11, 1950, in Alexandria Bay, son of Elmer and Florence Thompson Fitch, he graduated from Alexandria Central and took welding classes at BOCES in Watertown. He married Joanne Hurteau on November 24, 1990 in Theresa, NY.

Lee worked for 32 years as a welder for Frink America, Clayton and also worked for the New York State Parks at Grass Point and for the T.I. Bridge Authority, as night watchman at Boldt Castle.

He was a former member of the Alexandria Bay Fire Department, and enjoyed hunting, fishing and being on the St. Lawrence River.

Lee is survived by his wife, Joanne; three step-daughters and their husbands, Lisa and John Slate, Alexandria Bay; Kim and Ernest Emmi, Wassila, AK; and Katherine and Daniel Hobart, Ilion, NY; a step-son Larry Neville, Jr. and his companion, Amy Hull, Philadelphia, NY; a brother and his wife, Roger and Susan Fitch, Alexandria Bay; a sister and her husband, Sue and John Anderson, Phlugerville, TX; seven step-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Two brothers, Dale and Totsie, and a sister, Sally Fitch, predeceased him.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, January 15th from 4-7 pm at Costello Funeral Home.

The funeral mass will be held on Wednesday at 11:00am at St. Cyril’s Catholic Church in Alexandria Bay.

Burial will be in Barnes Settlement Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made in Lee’s name to St. Cyril’s Church or to the Alexandria Bay Fire Dept., PO Box 623, Alexandria Bay, NY 13607.
