The city of Watertown has named Stateway Plaza’s Arsenal Street entrance Western Boulevard.

In recent years, residents have unofficially recognized it as Western Boulevard, but the city had to wait until it took ownership from the state and the state Department of Transportation approved completing improvements at the intersection. DOT widened the highway at that spot.

On Monday night, the City Council agreed to dedicate it as a city street.

Gaffney Drive is on the plaza’s other side.
